Sent in a pair of knee high Frye boots for a lining repair, resole, and polish and waterproofing. My first issue was the repair time. It took over a month to get the boots back. Unfortuately, when I got the boots back, the sole on the heel was cracking, unfinished, and the lining repair and polish was not done. Rob settled with me for 50% refund stating that the \major work\ had been completed because I thought I would at least be able to wear them with the soles Rob put on. When I took the boots to another cobbler, he explained to me that the soles should not have been glued on, they should be soled, and the peeled right off, and they were poor quality. As you can see from the photo, the heel of the sole was cracked. I had to pay the cobbler to redo the soles to get the job done properly. I'm really disappointed with the work. These boots are very special to me or else I wouldn't have given Virginia Shoe Clinic 140 to repair them. The only reason I can even give a star is that Rob was very nice about it and a professional person. He was hesitant to give a full refund since he claimed he had done some of the work, so I opened a paypal case and got the rest of my money back. I just can't recommend him to repair leather boot soles or to pay attention to written instructions. Maybe he's better if you stand in person and tell him what you expect him to do. In any case, if he didn't know how to properly deal with leather boot soles I wish he had just said so and shipped them back to me instead of botching the job. UPDATE--I see the owner has responded to my review. I have nothing to add except that the photos were taken the same day I received the boots back from the shoe clinic and I believe they speak for themselves.
