BEAUtIFUL hidden gem. Loved the people, the vibe, the food, the mountain, the events at the mushroom festival. Even met a hero of mine Paul Stamets at the Mushroom Festival; I believe Mr. Stamets will be remembered as a 'genius before his time' (unfortunately like all the others, only after it's too late to give the actual man credit for his accomplishments and insights) but I highly recommend checking it out if you don't mind driving 7 hours and along cliff faces. I found the whole trip to be enlightening and elevating and wonderfully exciting! The town's folk were a bit "clicky", but that also lent a sort of charm to the place that makes you feel like you truly found something special when you're there.

I purchased a full pass on December 17, 2017 for the August 2018 festival. No online sign-ups were available for half-day forays. When I arrived in person to sign up for a foray on August 16th at 7:30 a.m., the first day of the festival, all the forays were full. I watched several other people make this same ugly discovery at the check-in desk over the next two days. Two "full passes," which provided "access to forays," cost almost 600. I also was told that organizers did not limit attendees to one foray, so for all I know, the same people filled the slots in all the forays, or they were filled with locals before the festival opened to the public. AVOID THE TELLURIDE MUSHROOM FESTIVAL; they sell more tickets than they can service.

I drove 7 hours and this was bull malarkey. No mushrooms shared. Plenty of people tripping and not sharing.
