I have lost track of how many times Thao has fixed me when I thought I could not be fixed in the seven years since my wife first sent me to her to help me with the shin splints that I thought had killed my Boston Marathon aspirations in 2013. I still remember, clearly, how Thao laughed and said “we can fix that.” It took a while for me to truly embrace the notion that pain (on the table) helps, but since I did there has been no setback in my training that she has not been able to help me clear. In the intervening years I’ve run marathons, ridden multi-day cycling events, and completed two full Ironman triathlons—and there is zero chance, absolutely ZERO, that I’d have been able to do those things without Thao. I wish there were more stars available for this rating.
