Lived there for a year. The area was calm. The place is obviously dated, but some renovation works are being done. Slowly, but I would assume surely. Regarding what you are renting: I do not know if the definition of \furnished\ is different in the USA, but in France, it means that it is a ready-to-live-in place; meaning that you don't have to buy anything. Here, I had to buy pillows, sheets, comforter and shower curtain. Not a big disturbance, but be ready for it when you arrive. The common areas in the apartment will be cleaned before you arrive, but the rest of the year, cleaning is logically up to you. Maintenance and management are very responsive and really quick to answer to any of your problems (broken furniture in common space, pest control, etc.) Ryan is definitely the greatest thing about renting at the Atrium. Always willing to help and to go above and beyond. The biggest issue for me was the light in the common areas. You will feel lucky if you have a room with a window toward the exterior of the building.. Otherwise... You will have to buy new curtains. The lights are on for the entire night. And the curtains provided barely block the light (which means they are not great for intimacy either..). Overall: For the price you pay, it is more than decent, but not perfect. You are, as advertised, really close to a bus stop (just cross the street - the bus service in Urbana-Champaign is really good.). The place is clean and quiet. You will not see security, however, cameras are present and all doors are locked. A compatibility sheet will be sent to you in order to put you in an apartment with people that fit more your profile. Would recommend.

I just got to tour the place, haven't lived there. But it seemed very secure and well maintained.
I lived in The Atrium for a short period, when I went to visit the apartment they showed me a super neat and beautiful room, what I got was one with old furniture and a bad bed. I made several complaints about one of the tenants who shared the apartment with me. She smoked inside the apartment, several times triggered the fire alarm, also brought a dog into the apartment even though it is a place that does not allow animals. During the period that I lived there, the common area also underwent several renovations which prevented the use of the gym, games room, etc. for a period. I also lived on the first floor and with the window facing the common area of \u200b\u200bthe building, people were often heard in the common area and as there are no employees at night, people never respected the request for silence. And besides the noise, the curtain does not seal much of the light in the common area, which stays ON ALL NIGHT! Prepare yourself to not sleep or put towels on your window before sleeping. Furthermore, the area does not feel safe, at night the parking area is super dark. And now after more than years out of this place, I get a message to delete my rating! Please stop asking people to remove the reviews.
I had a great experience living in The Atrium. The manager was very helpful and every time I needed anything he was always willing to help. I really recommend this place. If I ever go back to Urbana I would consider living there again!
Great place. Great apartment. Manager reasonable.
