I was in the SFIT program for two weeks, and when they discharged me home, my medications did not say my name. Also, my insurance card was given to the nurse so they could put it on file, and when I discharged I never got it back. In my experience, Inpatient facilities are much better than this program was.

In my humble opinion, this organization epitomizes greed and lack of concern for others. They do not truly appear to care about the members receiving their services, nor their own employees. The administration here is totally delusional and out of touch with reality, in how they administer their programs. They create this extremely dangerous environment for their workforce where they have no recourse of any kind. This was something which I not only experienced, but also observed countless times while working for The Village. As long as it isn't the upper administration of this organization who is constantly being physically and verbally attacked by their aggressive clients or having their own property vandalized, I truly feel like the admin doesn't care at all when this stuff happens to their own workforce. There is a reason why the turnover in The Village is as high as it still currently is, and it is because they do not offer a truly supportive environment for their workforce. The problem ultimately starts (and ends) at the very top leadership of this organization, until that changes this organization will sadly continue experiencing many problems which they could avoid through better oversight and management. What they really need to do is start promoting internally those people who actually do have direct care experience working with challenging populations, instead of just automatically sticking administrators into roles they are otherwise unqualified for who have nothing but degrees and textbook theory which they use. That is obviously not how you run a social services organization. Doubtful though, that anything will actually change here, because in my opinion this organization: The Village is very rigid, stubborn, and set in their ways. That's really sad though, a pity when you consider how that same rigid philosophy and mindset ultimately continues to contribute to so many of their problems which could be avoided in the first place, with better leadership.
Wanting to help individuals recover from trauma is a noble task that should be left to the COMPETENT. The directors and leaders of this agency should really reevaluate their mission and purpose. On the outside The Village looks like a well managed place but in reality the opposite it true. “This organization is very unorganized” -HR Member. When a representative from the Human Resources department can say such a thing about their company it’s quite freighting. A normal day at The Village is very chaotic especially for their Eagle House program. Staff are not equipped with the necessary support, direction, and leadership needed to effectively help kids in trauma. On a normal basis staff encounter an immense amount of assault from the clients while seasoned supervisor staff by and watch without intervening. Methods, such as TCI and the Care model leave staff feeling inadequately prepared to respond in moments of crisis, not only on grounds (Village compound) but while clients are taken into the community (YMCA, BGC, etc). Many of the clients have been banned from community settings yet the leaders refuse to change or adjust protocol. Burnout is inevitable! So if you feel like working for the Village is for you...USE MUCH PRECAUTION! Sincerely, A Concerned Individual
Wish I could give 0 stars! My teenage daughter was in therapy for depression witH suicidal thoughts. It was difficult to get her to come in to begin with as she was anxious. She comes in for intake and tHey are over 30 min late, then in the middle of the intake they have a fire drill. They assigned her a therapist, who clearly could care less because she discharged her afterr her missiNg an appointment. I wasn’t notified of the discharge until I called to reschedule her. I spoke with the manager after they told me she’d have to redo the intake and be reassigned. The manager did nothing but listen to me rant, offering me the same resolution. I took the appointment and when we arrived, I was told that the therapist had called out sick! Once again, no one called to notify us. The lack of care & consideration is disgusting!
The Village is an amazing service organization! They take their mission seriously and work tirelessly to reach those who are in need of their services. Programs range from trauma counseling to financial advising. Highly recommend!
