What makes a good church experience?
Other than the gathering of the body of Christ in worship of our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, I suppose that would compel as varied a response as there are numbers of people being asked the question.
In the interest of full disclosure, I have only visited the Katy Vineyard Church on two occasions and have not yet connected to a life group, but have listened to as many of Pastor Geoff's messages as I could get my hands on. While I don't have a checklist about the physical attributes of a church, I do have a few foundational non-negotiables when looking for a church home - such as the only eternal, living Triune God (Father, Son & Holy Spirit), the Lordship of our fully God/fully man Creator & Savior, Jesus Christ whose work on the cross is finished and complete, and the person of The Holy Spirit indwelling me and giving me all I need to hear, see, respond and grow in a deep intimate walk with my God. Beyond those, it's all about \the fit\... that special fit that manifests from God's deep, intimate knowledge of how He's made me, coupled with His Spirit's urging me to \go there\, \stand here\, \listen to this\, \sense the spoken and unspoken heart of these people\, \hear me speaking to you\, \I can/will grow you here\, \I can/will use you here\. For me, this is a fit.
Will my review of this local body of believers and their ministry be helpful to anyone else? Will they find the presence of God as \full in this place\ as I do? Will they find the the teaching as anointed, tender and compelling, the worship as worshipful, or the people as warm, inviting and down to earth as I have? I can't answer that; however, I strongly encourage anyone looking for a church home or even thinking about attending church for the first time, to come, listen and hear what God is saying to them about their \fit\ within this body of believers. At the very least, you will be blessed and at the most, you might find the home of your life.
