I had a wonderful time in the trask mountains today. Wonderful colors, except for some fog. Roads were well marked and maintained.

I absolutely appreciate the forest. It is gorgeous with many places to see. Has a great outdoor shooting range area. Campsites I have not stayed at but have seen them. Great for off-road vehicles. Hiking. Have seen people on there horses. One gravel road that branches of to many locations. All year long. Lots of beauty definitely recommend you check it out.

We just hiked Elk Mountain and it is a challenge of the body and will. It is straight up, start to finish. ********** If you are looking for that hike that will challenge every fiber of you both physically and mentally, King’s Mountain is a great one. This is the second time I’ve hiked it and so knew what to expect which didn’t necessarily make it easier. I could just appreciate the true challenge that it is even more. The main official sign lists it as VERY DIFFICULT.....and it is. But It is also doable, just prepare with knowing your own abilities, the right type of shoes, plenty of water, a walking stick, and energy snacks. As you see in the video: A WALKING STICK IS A MUST. Just a note: my Apple Watch measured the distance from the parking lot to the summit as 2.75 miles with an elevation gain of 2400 feet. NOTE: When you pass the wooden picnic table you are 0.17 miles to the summit. On clear days you can see Mount Hood (see photo). Take the challenge! I give the fullest credit to those who have hiked it in snow, etc.!
