We called and asked if they were able to repair a small 2 inch crack in the front of my aluminum boat. Nate said sure bring it by and my welder will look it over and give me a estimated time it will take. I took it in and was told 30 mins to prep and weld the crack or a hour to add a piece of aluminum to it to strengthen it. I said ok go ahead and do it. We get a call back 6.5 hours after dropping it off and he said it took a little over a hour to patch the crack (1h6m) and it would take another 2-3 hours to strengthen it up with aluminum. Although he said it would work as is and not leak. I was not thrilled with the way they went about it so I decided to just come pick it up as is. I get to the shop and inspect it and can clearly see that there were still small little holes in the repair I pointed it out to josh he looked at it and went to grab Nate in the mean time I grabbed a bottle of water and poured it in the boat above the crack and sure enough it still leaked. He stared at it for a good 30 seconds before he says well you can leave it here and we can fix it in the morning. This would put me well into three times what they quoted me for the complete repair with adding aluminum to stiffen it up. Never again will I use their shop nor will I recommend anyone to have any aluminum work done here. ️

This business lost a customer over a 42.00 labor charge! As I have done many times before I stopped in to purchase fuel filters and other items and possibly have brake pads put on my steer axle. The tech removed the wheel, drum and brake pads before checking if the pads needed to be replaced or not. The tech then found the pads were 90% and did not need to be replaced. The tech should have lifted the hood on the truck and looked on the back of the drum first to assess the brake percentage . When I questioned the labor charge and why the tech did not look at them before he just removed everything, Dan, the person in charge told me they can't see the pad by looking at the back of the drum. After discussing it with them, they were not willing to work with me . I was told that this is the way it is. Nice customer service! It's kind of funny since every time I've had a DOT inspection they've never once had to remove my wheel and drum to check my pad %! I feel I was taken advantage of as a customer and will never return. As an owner/operator I was really hoping to find a business that I could rely on on a regular basis that was honest & convenient for parts & service. Unfortunately that was not the case and I will let everyone on the I-5 corridor know how I was treated at Better Weigh Mfg.
