I have read about this monastery indirectly for years primarily through one of its monks, Thomas Merton, who died in 1968. Most of the place today is different from the view Merton had over 50 years ago. The new church was completed prior to his death. I am grateful for this monastery and the influence it has had on me. It was pleasant to finally see the place after so many years.

Beautiful place. Would love to visit gift shop and Abby. They are closed now because of Covid. But I intend to visit when it opens again.
The Abbey of Gethsemani was serene, beautiful, and just an amazing experience. I am blessed to have gotten the chance to visit. This would be an amazing place for peaceful prayer and self reflection. I can't wait to visit again.
Love... love... love going out there. There is truly no better place to do some much needed soul searching. I also found several awesome gifts for friends and family in the gift shop.
Feel a step closer to heaven. A place of great peace with a warm welcome. A place where silence is spoken.
