Propane! Yes they have it... Have you ever ran out of grilling gas in the middle of grilling? I have many times, luckily U-Haul is not too far and I can go right on over and get my tank refilled. They are quick and responsive, and they don't yak while they are filling your tank - they just do their job and move to the next person. Hey, they also have a good selection of moving/packing boxes at good prices - so go there for that kind of stuff - you won't be disappointed with the prices. Just treat the workers with respect, that is hard work.

They gave me a 1 hour quote for hitch install. When I showed up a week later, they changed it to 2.6 hours. First they said "Because we are busy" then "Because you have your own hitch" (Which I told them I did when I reserved). Manager - Lopez refused to honor their own estimate.

Be really careful when booking a storage unit: they stretch the truth about the size significantly. Our 8' x 6' floor area was really 7.25' x 5.5' which is a big deal when you've taped off floorspace in your room to plan how you're going to pack and have everything packed to the brim. The storage unit itself is fine - nothing to write home about, but it serves the purpose. But just subtract 6-9 inches from each horizontal dimension and plan for that.

I had a hitch and wiring installed on my 2018 Chevy Colorado at the Redwood City location. I was told the installation would take an hour and a half, instead it took 5 hours. When I left, I saw that my rear view camera was no longer working. I tried calling and emailing the Redwood city location, then contacted the Uhaul headquarters, then went to the Redwood City location in person to bring this to their attention. After an hour of waiting I was told the hitch installer would call me later that day. I received a call the next day saying that the rear camera was not working when they installed the new hitch, which I know is not true because I use the rear camera every time I go in reverse. They also claimed that the new wiring added for the hitch isn't even connected to the rear camera, but upon looking under the hitch I can clearly see this is also not true. The Redwood City Uhaul is taking no responsibility for the damage done to my vehicle.

This location never has the item I reserved and really needs to work on the efficiency of their process / staff allocation. They only ran 1 register with 10 people in line at 9 on a sunday so it took 40 minutes to get my trailer Even though I was 3rd in line. The first 3 of 3 reservations had issues with equipment not being available. If you're going to recommend online check in, there should be separate lines for those who have done online check in. They could even be helped outside instead of waiting in line inside for the people who haven't checked in / have messed up reservations. With 3 guys working outside, it seems like they could check the trailer number via walkie talkie so the sole cashier didn't need to run outside and figure it out. That being said the employees were friendly, patient, and went above and beyond to try to make things work. Uhaul corporate and management need some work though...

Good service, both in-store and follow-up by phone to help me work through an issue with returning furniture pads after hours.

I rented a 20 foot truck for my move. The truck had a bad battery so my 20 mile move took 9 hours because we had to jump the car. The worse day and moving experience ever. I will never use uhaul again. I should have looked at the rating before renting from the Redwood City location. Beside the aggravation, inconvenience, frustration and hot weather, I spent over 1500.00 for hired help and truck rental and I was given a 75.00 refund from uhaul. They had to replace the battery but because my move was completed.....9 hours!!! That’s all the refund I get!

Somewhat of a long story, but it bears telling. TL;DR: Don't use these people for hitch installs. They promise, and never deliver. September 7: Call up the main number and schedule a hitch install for a Tesla model 3. They are booked solid. Install scheduled for September 17th. September 16th: Get a phone call at 5pm stating that the guy scheduled to do the work was injured. No return date at this point. However, the part is in house, and I was welcome to it to take somewhere else to do the work, like the Redwood City u-haul. I just need to pick it up in person. September 17th. Drive to the Sunnyvale office. Everyone there is confused. Spend an hour there trying to figure out what the hell is going on. Turns out the part was given away to some one else. Why did I drive 45min out of my way for nothing, to spend an hour there, and then the same amount of time back? September 18th. Spend an hour on the phone with the main office listening to the awful hold music. Get hung up on twice. Eventually schedule install appointment in Redwood City for September 28th, assuming the part arrives in time. September 27th. Get a call stating there is no part. No estimate on when the part will come. Not even a sorry or an apology. September 29th. First trip with wife since 6-months of COVID lockdowns for a bike vacation is ruined because we can't bring bikes. Thanks U-Haul. You sure know how to promise and deliver nothing.
