This was some next level unagi and uni - honestly better than what I've ever had in Seattle and maybe even Japan! Strongly recommend the Hokkaido Uni Sashimi if you even remotely like uni. 10/10 would blow all my money again

Fine. The quality of the restaurant is fine and seating is tight. For the Price (30 for a small or 50 for a large ) I would expect a larger portion and higher quality (not feeling any bones) given the accommodations and price. The taste and quality is about equal to ordering eel at any Japanese restaurant that has it as just a standard item in the 13-18 price range. The rice was not the quality one would expect either. However they are new so I hope they will improve.
Very good. Went here on a Sunday so it was quite chilled. Fridays are more lively. The eel here is delicious and prepared well. Since these are rare in Manhattan, it's tough to find good eel over rice spots. Worth it if you are a fan or simply curious.
Legitimate unagi executed traditionally. Very similar to what is served in Narita. Unique in NYC and certainly with a niche offering, but worth the trip and price for a short journey to Japan.
Went as a party of 2 on a Sunday evening. Excellent eel over rice and incredible service. We also got the eel bone appetizer which was an extremely crunchy umami-full experience. Lauren was an excellent server!
Worst restaurant experience in a long time. We waited 48 min because "the rice cooker had issues". They served overly moist rice knowing that it was too moist. It turns out that they over moisted the first batch, so they threw away the first batch. They served the second batch which was over moisted again. The rice was served nonetheless. Unagi was over burnt, rice was served like congi. This cannot be a 50 menu.
First off, best eel over rice ever. Great char, fresh, not overly sweet, really good. Service was great, the only challenge I have is the price. 50 for a medium is high enough that even though it really is excellent, I'll probably never go back. YMMV but for me the value isn't there. I feel bad saying because I value the dedication to the craft and would like to support it but it's aggressively priced and with a very limited menu, unless the everyone in the group is in for 50 of eel over rice also, it's not going to be a common choice.
I will start off by saying that the food was good. Disappointed that a lot of the items were gone by the time we were here (7pm). So the chef is cool with the cooking but that's not why I gave this place two stars... We were never told that the meal was cash only till later in the meal (broken credit card machine or no wifi.). The server never told us, but my wife overheard the one server tell another guest as she was seating them. I heard her tell another guest after that. Because she didn't tell us that it was cash only, it made me a little nervous during the meal as I was worried about paying. (Figuring out how to use the ATM.) The server could have at least apologized for the situation. I would ask the server before being seated if it's cash only or credit card machine works before ordering. Or just put a sign on the window. Or to prepare before going, take out 200 from your local bank ATM before heading to this place. Might be a place to go to for lunch, not dinner. Worth going to, especially for someone from outside of the city.
