A great station in the fashion of stations from years ago with improvements happening every day!

The main entrance is located across the street from the larger, eye catching Union Station Building. It is under a blue awning on 225 Canal Street. The station is functional and a great way to get around Chicagoland and the country. You can get to all Amtrak trains and lounges/gates and Metra trains from this entrance. There are many other entrances across the city.
This station was quite well run. The location was magnificent and incredibly grand. It was clean all over - both clear of trash and cleaned up. The staff was super helpful getting my elderly, disabled grandmother to the train with ease. The riding cart was particularly helpful for her. The restrooms were clearly marked and getting to our gate was simple.
Tried walking to the gate for our train, and were told to wait in the great hall. Didn't see any signage indicating this or any directions on our tickets. I don't know why they even put the gate on the departure boards, it's actually pretty misleading.
Desingated a \Great Public Space\ by the American Planning Association, Union Station is the third busiest in the US, behind Grand Central and Penn Stations in NYC with over 3.3 million passengers per year. Built in 1925, Its combination of massive Limestone facades, Corinthian columns and sparkling marble floors, are showcased in its spectacular Great Hall. Chicago Station is laid out with a double stub-end configuration, with 10 tracks coming into the station from the north and 14 from the south.
