The picture and review is pre renovation. I hear it is a lot nicer and updated now. In the past this place was, small tight and falling apart. It appears to be in much better shape and glad the Islanders returned back to play here until there new arena is ready.

Great location, modern and aesthetically pleasing on the inside. Seating is comfortable and aisles are spacious enough for adults and children alike. Food and beverages are outrageously expensive. Be prepared to shell out 6 for bottled water, a hot dog will set you back 7 and 20 for parking. On the bright side It is still cheaper than the MSG. Bathrooms are immaculate! No large bags allowed!

This places is huge! It has a great location and the inside is even better. It’s so roomy but this place fills up fast on events so don’t be later. Only down side is that it isn’t free parking so don’t forget to be some spare change.

We went to see Disney on Ice here. This was my first Disney on Ice (or any show on ice) and it was wonderful! A lot of children come in costumes! So cute. The show is emceed by Mickey and Minnie and several different characters and princesses make appearances as the show goes on. The children in the audience, including my nephew, was engaged the whole time. Children all around us were clapping, dancing and singing along to the tunes. This show had everything including bubbles in the air, snow dropping from the ceiling, and even a fire breathing dragon. The figure skating and the special effects were amazing. I was really surprised that my 3-year-old nephew sat through the whole thing. There is a small intermission in the middle but basically the show is an hour and a half long. We really enjoyed ourselves. The staff at NVMC were great and very friendly. Yes, there are a lot of overpriced food and merchandise for sale at the coliseum. And if you have kids along, you’ll probably end up purchasing something. We got our nephew a Maui sword that lights up and it was a whopping 35! If you want to save some money, I would suggest buying a light up toy at one of the vendors stationed by the entrance of the parking lot. There’s usually quite a few of them around as you drive into the parking lot and the items that they sell are much cheaper than the ones inside the coliseum. While we were inside, we were duped into signing up for a contest and told we “won” a free trip. All we had to do was go to a presentation over the weekend and pay 20 deposit fee on the spot. This really left a sour note and it is the only reason I took off one star from my review. Otherwise, I thought Disney put on an amazing show and I highly recommend it for families with young kids.
