This is a unique school that offers environmentally focused education in nearly all of their classes. They follow a theme of sustainability through all the courses and the class sizes are small. The 5 week 1 class at a time pairs very well with this type of education as you can really focus on the subject matter. Going to college online while learning about saving the environment seems logical as you’re not commuting and overusing resources. As a 37 yo man with kids it works perfect and the education is very good and efficient. I’d recommend this school to anyone that wants an efficient environmental education that might have seen impossible because life & location wouldn’t allow them to attend in person. Read the negative reviews with a grain of salt, I’m currently a student and I’m gaining a lot. I think college is what you make of it.

Honestly, the only good thing brought to me by Unity was tardigrade research. I’m really grateful for this opportunity, but looking back on my experience at the college I feel good about leaving. I had awful roomate experiences and my dorm was full of people who made me uncomfortable and afraid to leave my room, even to just use the microwave. My RA was very supportive, however. The college took my money and gave me untransferable college credit, and false hope in my education. The coronavirus situation has impacted everyone poorly, but in the case of Unity it has put me into a position of uncertainty and frustration. For a college called “Unity” there really wasn’t much unity or kindness within the community. The school really targeted quirky kids who don’t want a traditional big college experience, and yet any differences were scrutinized by my fellow students. I wish I could get the time, effort, and money back. This is not to say that there weren’t any good experiences. I had such wonderful professors. In contrast, however, when I sought out help for my mental health, there was no compassion. On my NOVA trip, I expressed my concern about a specific hike, but my leaders told me I was holding back the group and being rude and anxious about a ‘nothing’ situation. Of course this ‘nothing’ situation ended in a trip to the ER and high doses of benedryl on the weeklong trip. But still somehow I ended up apologizing. I sincerely hope this school changes in a positive way. Thanks for leaving me with uncertainty ):
