Gravity vault upper saddle river has been my go to gym since I began climbing. Throughout the years I have developed some pros and cons. Pros: Great staff and an awesome social environment. Great variety of all difficulty levels, but could be more diverse. The shop has an awesome selection of everything you need, & rentals are cheap. They addition of trad climbing here is really nice, as not many gyms have it. Cons: The gym itself is not very well kept, everything could use a once over her and there. The routes only go up to 5.13 at the moment. Most of the holds below 5.10 are jug holds, and can’t be applied to climbing 5.10’s or lower outdoors. The bouldering is great, but definitely rated lower than they should be. There are usually only 2 or 3 auto belay systems up at once, much lower than most gyms I have been to. Overall: I really recommend checking the gym out and meeting some new friends, you’ll have fun no matter what.

My granddaughter wanted to go rock climbing, so we came to the Gravity Vault & opted for the 1 hour session. The staff provided great assistance & climbing directions, especially Fernando. There were a lot of climbers of varying ages & skill levels. We had a great time & would definitely come back.

Amazing Gym! I love it and you get this old school climbing feel. Only recommendations is to vividly note which climb is which grade.

I'm afraid if heights. I get jelly legs looking over edges more than 15 feet above ground. Fortunately, at the Gravity Vault, my face was 6 always inches away from a vertical wall and I was kept preoccupied looking upwards for the next handhold, so it kept my fears at bay. Instead, I rapidly got jelly legs and arms from the strenuous workout! I called it quits after 4 climbs. It also helped that the climbing guide was really relaxed and encouraging. Great fun!
