Be extremely careful when you deal with these CBP Officers. They are very strict at what you declare and what you tell them, verbally. Once they noticed an inconsistency, even that was the honest error, they will assume that you are lying and give you a hard time. They have no hearts and human emotion. I do have great respect for men and women in uniforms, until my last encounter with the customs officers in Detroit Metro Airport. It would help if they show a little understanding and empathy toward other human beings. My family and I are law bidding US Citizens who got a very rough time going through the customs after making an honest mistake at the checking kiosk. We lost all of our exemptions and got a hefty tax on our purchases. Not fair.

Red hair fat male custom agent keeps target on People based on race, appearing not random picking. One of worst behaviors is to take all items already arranged off the luggage. Then instead of putting back where they are belonged, just throw everything randomly back in the luggage and walk away. When I whined, this fat guy shouted and asked what I was saying. I have experienced with custom at Minneapolis, Atlanta, DC, Japan. They never did something like this guy at DTW.
