Before the show began, they presented a redone version of a Charlie Chaplin film interspersed with funny old commercials to go get something from the lobby to eat. The show was split into two parts. The first part was the locally interpreted production of Alice in Wonderland. The pianist was excellent playing along with the action onstage. The ensemble did a respectable job playing the parts in this 75 minute show. This was followed by an intermission of 15 minutes. The second half was a vaudeville show, closing with a patriotic program. This part of the program allowed the actors to show their true talent in singing and acting, that were too often subsumed in the Alice in Wonderland production. And hats off to the pianist who once again did a superb job. I would highly recommend that anyone visiting Montana go to Virginia City and see the productions that are held throughout the year at the theater. You will have a great time and enjoy yourselves at a price that won’t break the bank.

Great place to see something!!! It's not very large, but surely interesting. It's a pity they were having rehearsals when we came, so we couldn't see it much inside

The Virginia City Players offer family-friendly entertainment that is fun for adults too. There is an intermission between the play and the funny Vaudeville acts. I think it's worth staying for both, but if you are short on time, you can pay half price and leave during intermission. Also, go early if you can. They play silent movies that are accompanied by Robert Harsch who plays this really cool organ/piano thing called a Cremona theatre orchestra. It is amazing to watch him play.

The BEST! Went to see them each fall as a kid in jr. High through college, got to see them again last summer... still the best and the late 1800's atmosphere makes the whole experience magical!

Can't begin to say how much the players mean to my husband and me. Jeff introduced me to the Opera House 28 years ago and we enjoy coming each year. Twenty five years ago he asked me to marry him in Virginia City. special place, special people and we appreciate the town and all it has to offer. Great shows and glad we get the opportunity to attend.
