Fun walk over the river with lots of plaques that explain different eras and events throughout the history of the train-bridge-turned-walkway on the Hudson River. Unbeatable views of Poughkeepsie too

Majestic view and good walk if you are not afraid of the heights. The Hudson river was still frozen. And it can be very windy right in the middle. But what a great experience!
My wife. Betsey and I did a day trip to Poughkeepsie with goal of visiting the walkway. Signage was clear day was perfect not to cool or hot. We took up metro north about a 2 hour scenic trip. Over a nice half day trip. the Sojourner Truth statue was inspirational ; the trail signage on other side of trail about statue was okay..
Amazing view and a great walk as well. Makes you really appreciate the state of NY.
Nice easy footbridge with great views, and lanes just wide enough for you to stop and take a picture. The Highland side has clean restrooms and a couple of seating options and a table or two if you would like to stop for a snack, but only 1 vending machine for water and a popcorn truck so don’t bring your appetite. You can enter the Hudson Valley Rail Trail directly from the park and Fanny Reese State Park is a short walk down a very steep hill near the parking lots.
