This is the outbound rail station for the MBTA Fitchburg Line. At the end of the platform is a raised area for handicap accessible entry to the train; the train can also be boarded down the asphalt line leading to Moody Street. Other than the confusing nature of this stop, it is well maintained and quite nice.

As Jacob B posted, this is the outbound station for Waltham on the Fitchburg line commuter rail. There is no indication that this is the case (sign, help desk), so you'd have to ask someone to find out.
