We buy his chocolate every time we go to Sunday farmers market. Taste amazing!

Just picked up a few bars the other day at the Bethesda Farmers market. Wow! This is excellent chocolate. I love dark chocolate and have tried many types. This organic chocolate is superior to most. If you love flavorful dark chocolate that just melts deliciously on you tongue give this a try. The "cardamom in dark chocolate" is fantastic.

I love the bean to bar Chocotenango! From the downtown holiday market in Dec, I couldn't resist just buying 1 bar of chocolate, and bought a few - Arabian Nights, El Puro, and limited release 79% cocoa bar as well as 7 Spice hot chocolate (similar to Chai). Chocotenango was only at the market for the last 2 weeks - so glad I spotted the stall! While the beans are from the Dominican Republic, the chocolate is handcrafted and made in DC. I love how the textured logo is imprinted in the chocolate bar, very cool! As I rarely see chocolate bars infused with rich spices to elevate the flavor, I was in for a treat with the Arabian Nights infused with cardamom! The Limited Release chocolate bar is quite smooth and decadent and melts perfectly into my mouth. Just a few pieces is more than satisfying! The dark chocolate bars should be eaten within 8-10 months - check the expiration date in the back of the bar. The ones I bought back in Dec expire August-Nov. If you don't like dark chocolate, the vibrant bonbons in different flavors (coffee caramel, passionfruit and mango, lemon poppy seed, etc) looked divine! There's no brick and mortar Chocotenango store. While you can eagerly wait for the next downtown holiday market, the chocolate bars are available all over the city - Glen's Garden Market, Union Kitchen Grocery, Via Umbria, The Chocolate House - just go to their website!

Chef Ismael is not only a great chocolateur but also a great teacher and fascinating person! I booked a chocolate class with him for my cousin's bachelorette party and it was even more fun than we expected. The ages of the women in our party ranged from 12 to 55 and he was able to teach us all and make it fun for everyone. It was also nice to go home with some delicious chocolates to share and some recipes so we could make them again. Since then, I've bought chocolates from his website as a gift for my grandfather. Ismael responded to my order promptly and went the extra mile to include a personalized note on my behalf, making my grandfather happy, too.
