Heads-up: This restaurant is under new management and the meal we just had there was -- and I don't say this lightly -- the worst meal I can ever remember getting from a restaurant, anywhere, ever. We bought the kabob special and the falafel appetizer -- we didn't end up eating either and threw them away, in part because we were afraid the food would make us sick. The kebab smelled as if it had gone bad and the falafel had an odd aftertaste, both portions were extremely small, the yogurt sauce thin and watery. The sides included with the kebab were a very small amount of rice, some also odd-tasting chickpeas, and wafer-thin pitas (it was like eating a Safeway-pack of tortillas). The only reason I am not leaving one star is because the person manning the register was very cheerful and nice, but you couldn't pay me to go back after that food. It was CRUSHING because we used to love this place and had been going there on-and-off for the past decade -- this once-upon-a-time dingy hole-in-the-wall used to be a Dupont Circle staple -- it had GREAT Greek/Mediterranean food at reasonable (for DC) prices. They served amazing grilled chicken/steak/lamb gyros and platters on a bed of rice, with fluffy pita and hummus. At some point I think in the last year (maybe because of COVID?) it appears that they closed down and now are under new management. If they don't improve their food, this place is not going to last long in a town that has an amazing foodie culture and a lot of hot competition.

This is always a go-to place because the food is good. Not much to say on the outside but the owner is really nice and they take real good care of you. I always get the combination chicken and lamb with the hot sauce and it's always on point. The gyros are also good.
Food tastes bad. Portions very small. Owner told us he needs to close as soon as we walked in
Super fresh, delicious Greek food. Relaxed atmosphere. Great diner.
I wanted to like this place so much. It's hot and dirty, feels like you're in Baghdad. Ordered combo plate and the chicken was tender and delicious, rice was great, beef burnt and hard, pitta or naan was heated on griddle in rancid oil. It you know what that smells like and how bad it is for you I'm sure you understand my experience. I also ordered the Lebanese salad, I watched it being made, the guy was picking out rotting lettuce as he attempted to make it. He should have thrown the whole thing out! And the falafel was fried in rancid oil, over fried until it was hard to bite into!
Great salad, great little place with outside seating, great ownership. Best value on Dupont circle
The best thing about this falafel place is the pita. It’s thick and soft and heavy, unlike a lot of places that use thin, dry pita. I’ve been going here for years and it’s usually great, but the last time I was in town it just wasn’t up to par. Our food didn’t taste that fresh and the restaurant itself had a pretty rank smell inside. I’ll still go back in the future, especially for a super late night meal; hopefully this latest trip was just a fluke.
DC cafe is a must. It's the only place in DC that you may find open and offering great tasting food after 3am. Love their lamb gyros and baklava. The service is not conventional and offering fake smiles, but they do care a great deal about their customers. The owner used to extend the hours when I arrived late at 4am couple of times.
