Lived here during the summer of 2017 when I had an internship with the House Majority Leader. Had unforgettable times in Potomac, appreciated how close it was to The National Mall, and it's a great place to meet new people from all around this great country. I can proudly say I miss my time in Washington every day.

Don’t come here expecting the laundromat in the basement to work. No change machine for quarters, often always have to wait for an open machine, or better yet, 2/3 of the time the machine eats your quarters and doesn’t work. Minor inconvenience but awful when you have to walk around the block to get quarters from a random vending machine just for the machine to not work when you use it. Rooms are ok. Laundromat, however, is college student hell.

If you're not interested in fussing with a short term lease and/or an intern looking for dorm-style housing, Potomac House is the best you'll be able to find. The location is great; a mere twenty minute metro ride from Capitol Hill with the White House nearly next door. It has the good fortune of being the only GW summer housing option not reportedly infested with cockroaches. Built in 2006, the accommodations are reasonably modern, but not luxurious. They are certainly adequate. If you're the pampered sort that expects hotel suite style living you're bound for disappointment. GW's housing maintenance/cleaning crew is clearly underpar though. It seems they make little effort to fix minor wall damage or remove scuff marks. Same applies for the furniture. They might sweep between residents, but I see little evidence they do much else. Everything is in fair enough condition for now- but if I recall correctly this is/was freshman undergraduate housing -so if they continue to neglect their otherwise acceptable accommodations they'll become as ramshackle as I've heard other GW dorms are in no time. 3/5 stars for the housing, 1 for location and value.
