Great place to go walking. Also connects to the trails across the bridge, along the river, and up into Arlington. Free parking lot is very small and fills up very fast on any nice weather days. Popular place for cyclists and paddlers too. Cool statue of Theodore Roosevelt in the middle of the island. Good views across the river to the Watergate area, etc in DC. Lots of low flying helicopters and airplanes. Bathrooms sometimes open on the island but not at all close to the parking lot. Loads of people here any time weather is nice.

Wonderful place for a quick walk in the nature..Breathe in fresh air and feel rejuvenated. It has couple of trails all no more than an hour for an average walker. The place is popular and does get pretty crowded.
Quieter than walking on the roads and has an open public restroom, which helpful when you are out walking.
Nice for a short walk (1.5 miles, 35 minutes-ish). Although I walked the longest trailer, smaller ones are present too. Benches available near the Roosevelt statue. Enjoyed seeing these ducks along the trail.
lovely place for a quick walk. Child and dog friendly. Can be muddy so wear good shoes.
