My family is hosting our first exchange student and the support we are getting from YFU is great! For example, when the student was flying into the USA and landed at Dulles, due to severe weather, her flights to our nearest airport got cancelled. I worked with the YFU USA travel rep and we were able to get the student on another flight to another larger airport and get her safely to us on that day. The local representatives for YFU are all volunteers. If you are having an issue communicating with a local volunteer, well, they are volunteers. You always have access to the State Reps, and the main office in DC. If you are looking for a great exchange experience, please disregard the one star reviews on here. YFU is a great organization.

I'm appalled by the support provided to both host families and exchange students on this program. It is not acceptable, and you should definitely consider going on exchange/hosting with a different program if you want to have a good experience.
