**DONT RECOMMEND** was the student at American school for the deaf, horrible experience, uneducated, poor education than other school, i learned like 3rd grade level when i was senior... other school may teach us like 8 grade which it’s common for deaf students to learn... i got 3rd level... mess up my life. regret my life for transfer this school, i used to attended New York school for the deaf , they do better than ASD. No offense. Too dark history. Even one staff used to flirt with me when i was 16 years old... i was bullied by the staff, and students, they not take it too serious. Almost all student is too way immature, bully to other student who have distance learn, or physical disabled. Most unprofessional school ever i went to. They don’t tested employees drug... some staff being high while working at school, even worse, some they sell to the students. too many stories to tell.

I heard this school has a dark history of abusive and unprofessional practices. This 'private school for the deaf' must've thought that prayers of the misfortunate were inaudible to the ears of God. Students deserve better. This school has been in hiding from its own reputation and it's obvious from the amount of 5 star reviews from sockpuppet accounts vs the handful of negative reviews from actual people who are familiar with the institution. American School for the Deaf needs to rethink its approach on EDUCATION and SCHOOLING because they've got a righteous cloud of witnesses watching them now.

My 5yo attends ASD and is a cochlear implant recipient. He has made so much progress in both speaking and hearing it is amazing. He has a every growing ASL vocabulary and absolutely loves his school and teachers.

I do not recommend this school for your Deaf child. Graduation rate is significantly lower compared to other schools. Teachers are not entirely fluent in ASL and uses the Total Communication approach. Education for these Deaf students is NOW, not later. With the slow changes ASD are trying to make to become a Bi-Bi language school rather than Total Communication is hurting their students to full high level educational access when parents can get the top quality interpreters in mainstream provided parents are also fluent in ASL themselves.
