It's good basic and fresh sushi rolls. Tues special is very good. I wouldn't pay full price though...And it's not just chicken as others said. There is shrimp tempura, rainbow roll, spicy tuna, salmon and lots more....something for everyone even folks that don't like sushi.

Slow service getting seated and getting drinks. The sushi was just OK. Nothing spectacular. The ikura tasted slightly off, sweet as opposed to salty as it should. The bartender was more preoccupied on serving her friends than in providing good, consistent service. Would think about it twice before coming back.
Find me another place within a 20 mile radius that has the same sushi conveyor belt that this place has. You can't. Try crossing the pacific for that one. Overall, the sushi is excellent and the employees are quite cordial. It's like a little piece of tokyo that has fallen on the heads of Blue Back Square.
Belt was almost always entirely empty, but could ask waiter for specific things. BLT sushi is weird. Wished for more depth in "traditional" rolls on the belt instead of chicken.
I've been to other conveyor belt sushi places, even one in the mall in West Nyack, NY that are better than Umi. Why? Well, at those other places the prices are lower, the variety is better, the fish is fresher and the rolls are far more creative. I get it that Umi is supposed to be "trendy" because it's in Blue Back but that doesn't justify the lackluster selection and high prices. Save your money and go to Sakura Garden at Bishop's Corner where the sushi is all you can eat plus a huge buffet for far less than you would pay here. Plus, I think the sushi there is better than Umi. I am a native New Yorker and have been to many great sushi places and even though I'm realistic about what to expect in West Hartford, Umi disappointed me. By the way I agree with the reviewer below that they should offer traditional nigiri sushi and not just rolls.
cool new take on the old sushi boat idea. buffalo chicken sushi. and BLT sushi too.
I drive from in from Springfield, MA (40 min!) just to eat here every few weeks. Can't really say anything negative, other than I'm not a fan of the BLT roll. Luckily for me, there's about 10 others to choose from!
