Phantom's Revenge is a modern classic, and one of the most interesting coaster stories of our time. Though I never rode the original Steel Phantom, Revenge is worthy of its name. Huge drops, enormous speed, and sweeping turns make up the first half, while the second half is full of airtime hills taken at hilariously high speed. The trains give you enormous room for airtime, the terrain layout is astounding and beautiful, and the interaction with Thunderbolt and Turtle is the icing on the cake that makes Phantoms Revenge feel very much a part of the park it's in. One of the best rides at the park and a must ride for any coaster fan.

This is my #2 at Kennywood. It provides strong Positive G Forces, tons of airtime, great head-chopper effects, a smooth ride experience, great views, and all with some of the most comfortable restraints ever.
A perfect balance of speed, airtime, and incredible drops. Few coasters have such masterful pacing, and even less that also interact so perfectly with the terrain upon which it was built. This ride slams into the brakes only slowing down for a moment to prepare for the iconic second drop. Diving through Thunderbolt down the mountain side is a rush that is second to none, well except maybe the incredible finale. Put this on the short list of rollercoasters you must ride before you die.
The Phantom's Revenge is a unique coaster. It opened as the world's tallest looping coaster (tallest by drop length, the second drop features an extra 80' into a ravine). After a decade the novelty wore off and it was just known for being rough. Kennywood removed the loops and flips and overhauled the trains. The result is a fantastic and smooth coaster. The first half is all about speed. The curving 160' drop leads to another hill (unfortunately, no real air here) and then a 23 story drop right under the Thunderbolt. After a swooping turn and another dive under Thunderbolt, Phantoms comes back up to the plateau and ends with some great ejector seat airtime. An excellent coaster.
This is by far the worst amusement park I have ever been to in my life. The rides were extremely boring and the biggest one the phantom was not even that great. I waited in line for 2 hours for the rocket and when I got to the end I found out why. They had me as the only one on the ride. Their were 12 other seats but they sent me by myself. On the old mill they were sanitizing the boats and sending them empty after each person making the line take twice as long as it should have. This was pointless as all the people in line were touching and leaning against the same isle bars and fences which were not being cleaned, and they never did this with the other rides, plus the ride was so boring that even a child would be bored yet it was the newest one.The staff was very rude as one of them told me to put a mask on, as soon as I stepped off the ride. I tried to explain to her that it fell off on the roller coaster her response, "I don't care, buy one at the gift shop". There is no way I was going to buy another mask after every ride, plus my wife was getting dizzy and faint wearing a mask on all the rides. It is dangerous to enforce something like that and if they really cared about people's wellbeing in regards to COVID they wouldn't be open. All they care about is making a buck not the welfare of their guests, every so called safety measure was for show and did next to nothing to stop the spread of COVID. Waste of 50 bucks and am never going back.
Still one of my favorite roller coasters of all time, especially at Kennywood. They have built 2 more since this one and they just can't seem to get one better than this one. Steel Curtain is a kiddie coaster in comparison...
Good rides. Short lines. Can bring food. Family friendly. I drive from Ohio a CPL times a year for it.
DO NOT GO TO KENNYWOOD. The park has gone completely downhill these last couple years, but this is a new low. They advertise safety through their policies on social distancing and their requirement of face coverings. However, the underpaid teenagers who make up their payroll do very little to nothing to enforce COVID mitigation efforts. It was quite irresponsible for them to even open while Allegheny County case counts skyrocket day after day, and I now see how irresponsible it was for me or for anyone to go there. Other than the safety of the park during this pandemic, the management is failing their customers as well. Good rides are always closed and the management at Kennywood is always without explanation or apology. The rides are constantly being shut down or closed an entire day, week, or even season due to the poor job the park does on maintenance. The PR does not care about the experience, they will just take your money and not deliver the experience that you pay for. Kennywood also lacks in having security and a secure place for valuables. All they offer are wooden cubbies from which anybody could steal. That is what happened to me today. My phone and money were stolen because Kennywood disregards the security of their customers. After visiting on July 17, 2020, I strongly recommend all who consider going to Kennywood to rethink their decision until Kennywood cleans up their act.
