The Department of Children and Families has failed a little girl by the name of Royalty Smith. My mother Lila Monds had temporary custody of Royalty Smith since she was 2 months old. Her mother was incarcerated and upon her release she couldn’t find stable housing so that she could gain custody of her children. DCF agreed to extend guardianship to my mother Lila Monds once Royalty mother found a home. The mother of Royalty began a lifestyle of drug, alcohol, and partying which resulted in a pregnancy from an unknown father. The mother is considered mentally unstable and out of her rage of not having custody of Royalty she called DCF and submitted a false claim. DCF did an investigation of the claim and found it to be false. DCF failed to press charges to the mother which is a third-degree felony. On May 17th DCF arrived at my mother home with law enforcement and came and took Royalty stating that she has been adopted by an unknown source. DCF failed to notify my mother of any adoption or provide any information to adopt Royalty herself. Now, Royalty has been taken from my family that love and care for her and is place somewhere unknown and scared. My family has contacted our family attorney, congressmen and our governor to open an investigation with DCF. Royalty mother only place her up for adoption for financial gain and she failed to provide the DCF and the state with Royalty biological father to gain those financial resources. Royalty father has submitted a petition for a DNA test. DCF know the mental instability of Royalty mother and continued with the adoption without providing any information to the legal guardian appointed by DCF themselves. In closing Department of Children and Families you have taken a child that was in a happy, loving home and place her with someone she doesn’t know you are causing Royalty to have trauma you have failed us. A man answered the phone very rudely to only ask \am I calling DCF\? . Obviously im calling DCF ! anyways multiple times after saying yes then has the urge to hang up on me and send me to a survey! Very rude and unprofessional !!!

My father tried to call DCF to help two children in a trailer park with a pitbull in West Palm Beach but when he called he was given the run around and was transferred to at least 5 different extensions. This is very disappointing and unacceptable. Not to mention the people he talked to were very rude and unprofessional, and this is a state agency? What a joke!!
