Called this place several times, was very respectful and was still spoken down to like I was trash . I don’t understand how these people can be so disrespectful to someone in need and with children involved

When other shelters turned people away during the Covid-19 months Adams County shelter stayed open.

On 12-29-2017 I was released from jail I had just did 8 months I was scared about getting back I'm society I had no money an didn't have no we're to go . Word of mouth in West Union oh they had a homeless shelter I call Sharon the director there an she said she would be glad to let me stay . I was still kinda nervous but I had no other choice. Once I got there I felt safe right of the bat . I had a kitchen full of food I could cook. I had a warm bed to sleep in. An cameras that watched everything an that made me feel even more safe. I had a bad drug addiction I was struggling with . There were days I just wanted to give up an I no Sharon could tell so she always left her door open for anytime I just needed to talk which was really helpful because she treated me like I was one of her kids . An with her an the people who she chose to let stay there I ended up meeting some people I am still friends with today people I can talk to about anything people who just want to better themselves an not drag me down this shelter help me become a better man Sharon helped me get my own home I now have a job friend I met at the shelter who I can talk to or hang out with most of all friends who were just like me but don't do drugs people who were down an out an because of Sharon gave them a second chance at life . She is the best person with a big heart but she can tell who really wants the help so if u are just looking for a hand out she will throw u out as fast as u came in but if u show her u really want a better life she will brake her back for u . I was there only 3 weeks an in that time she helped me adapt back into society get a I'd card and she helped me get a permanent place to live. An most of all she helped me stay clean I just want to say thank u for everything u did for me . My name is Josh Thomas an this is my success story.

I never stayed here but I used their tax service. The old Pritchett woman is the most contentious, rude and condescending woman I have ever had the displeasure of talking to. I can't believe she works with and for the public with an attitude like hers.
