The Wind Solar Alliance (WSA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the transition to renewable energy in the United States as a means of strengthening the nation’s economy and reducing the environmental impacts of our energy use. WSA uses research, communications, and advocacy to raise awareness of the benefits of renewable energy and the need for energy and infrastructure policies that recognize and reward those benefits. WSA was launched by wind energy leaders in 2010 as the Wind Energy Foundation. In 2014, the organization launched its A Renewable America campaign in partnership with leaders from the wind and solar industries. Since then, the campaign has worked in support of a host of key federal and state policy initiatives, such as the 2015 extensions of the federal Production and Investment Tax Credits, the EPA’s Clean Power Plan, and the 2016 update of Illinois’ renewable portfolio standard.
