I have hiked this many times, once again this morning. The views today did not disappoint. Visibility was stellar. Careful if it is warm (over 60 degrees) around the ruins for rattlesnakes especially if it's sunny.

Really pretty ruins and nature as well. Wish had more time to explore and walk around. I'm quite curious why that building was never finished and why can't there be a resort now. I think the location is great and so many people seem to want to travel there. It's also nice to see that the area around is pretty clean with no garbage. It's always enjoyable to walk around nature and palces which are taken cared of.

Definitely worth the hike. Wasn't that hard. The trail was the old entrance to the hotel I suppose. But it was like a carriage road with a lot of rocks. But it was only a few miles each direction. And the ruins were very interesting. We went and it started to snow on us but we didn't turn around we kept going. Then we made it to the fire tower which was just another hop skip and a jump up the road. And that was definitely worth going to see as well. We climbed the tower even though it was covered with ice but nobody fell.

Great hike! Be prepared though! It's about 2.5 miles up hill. Definitely a amazing workout! Views at the top are totally worth the hike!

VERY STRENUOUS HIKE. The first almost 2 miles until you hit the ruins is steep uphill hiking on a gravel road. For a popular hike in the Catskills, you definitely have to be in good shape for this one. The trail is wide enough to take plenty of breaks along the way so it’s doable for everyone going at their own pace. The ruins are beautiful. It looks creepy and picturesque. Definitely good for photo ops. If you keep hiking past the ruins, it’s about a mile to the fire tower. You can climb up the fire tower and get some good views. You can continue along the trail and you’ll hit the scenic overlook. The views are amazing and definitely made the 2 mile climb worth it. Parking is a little iffy. Get there early on the weekends to find parking. However I went on a Thursday 1pm and was able to find parking on the side of the road. There is a Buddhist Temple across the street from trailhead that looks interesting too.

Such a cool hike. It is steep! And exhausting in the snow, but a lot of fun and great views when you make it up!

Pretty steep, read reviews if you're genuinely worried about your health and safety & for those who feel good about it I'll name that there were lots of kids, doggies, and people of all ages and sizes the evening I went. My friends and I really Hauled our butts up to make sunset and down to beat the dark. We completed the whole trip with a little time to sit for a short beer at the top in 2.5 hours. The fall foliage at the ruins was spectacular and spooky. The way the stone absorbed sound was eerie and lovely on a cool afternoon. Would love to see in the spring and take a sketchbook. Don't skip heading to the very top of overlook. The view is stunning. The trail was very well maintained, but with a lot of traffic of humans there's always more trash than the forest needs. Take a bag and a sanitizer with you to help do your part to keep parkland beautiful!

This was crazy cool to stumble upon. Neither of us knew it would be here and it livened up the trail.
