Future nurses, don't work for this place! Hospital management does not protect you or hold their unsafe employees responsible for their actions. I am a RN that was yelled at, cursed at, and threatened by a patient care assistant, simply for delegating necessary patient care tasks to her. I properly followed up with management, and nothing was done about it. JUST BEWARE! It's all about having the warm body there to do the work, who cares about employee safety?! I regret being hired by this company. I love my nurses, and the hard work we do everyday to make sure our patients are well taken care of. We don't deserve that kind of treatment. If it does happen, we deserve to be supported by our employer through the right decision to address unsafe working conditions to make us feel secure in our workplace environment.

The worst experience of my life. Don’t go here or send a loved one here

Rating is for ER only. 10 hours of waiting in an ER waiting area that was way too cold is simply unacceptable. Staff bordered on being rude every time I asked if they had forgotten about me because patients who arrived later were taken in without explanation as to why they had priority. No coffee to be had anywhere. Vending machines half empty and only junk food available, no sandwiches. ER doctor barely spoke a word during my one minute exam. I later was told that this ER is a trauma unit and thus wait times can be ridiculous. The only alternative is UMass Memorial.

Please, please, please, for your own sake and safety, go elsewhere...anywhere, other than to this hospital for care - especially if you are considering transplant! If I could have given no stars, I would have. This hospital has major problems - with everything from staffing, food, billing, internal communications, to overall cleanliness. My husband was a patient here for and extended time (over 6 months due to inept care - and he did not make it out alive) and I saw it all. He was relatively healthy walking in. So please believe me when I tell you, this is not a place you want yourself or your loved ones to be - and these comments have absolutely nothing to do with COVID. Everything bad about this hospital was happening before, during, and will undoubtedly will be there after COVID without a major overhaul from top to bottom in everything from the actual age of the building and equipment to the obviously inept management! It’s all about the money and the students here and not the care. This is a teaching hospital - please do your research and know the difference in the lack of care you will receive.
