This Queen Anne style structure was built on the site of the previous town hall and church. This earlier multi-purpose hall hosted town meetings and religious services since 1846, until it burned down in 1904. This was following rough beginnings for Worcester, which was chartered in 1763. The town was abandoned in 1816 due to the extreme weather of the 'year without a summer,' and not resettled until 1821.
