Thank you United Way of Yakima. For many years prior to my retirement, I supported United Way in the places where I lived, never thinking I would need their assistance. Last summer I was diagnosed with wet macular degeneration and I had begun losing my sight. My doctor sent me to VIC, where they provide a specific service that helps us live independently with devices and education, even with sight loss. They identified a device that would help me see things clearer. The problem was that I couldn't afford it. Lisa from VIC explored getting help to pay for it. United Way of Yakima supports VIC. So with some of that support added to help from the Naches Lions Club sight program I received the assistance I needed to make it possible for me to get the device and it has been really helpful in making my life much more enjoyable. I learned first hand, how United Way helps all of the people that they say they do. I encourage everyone to support United Way.

Place is not open to the general public. Open to other nonprofits and civic groups. Old, small building remodeled to modern standards, feels dark, and crowded, particularly conference room.
