We have been using Yakima Waste Systems for our trash, recycling, and yard waste since we moved from Spokane to Yakima in late July 2020. The monthly bill is about 61, and we have had RECURRING issues with their trash and recycling service in the time we have been here. One morning we didn't get the trash can out early enough, so that was our bad. However, given that we have only lived here 6 months, it is unacceptable that we have had 4 missed trash pickups, and 3 missed recycling pickups. Each time we have to call and are treated condescendingly by the customer service staff, who defend their drivers. The drivers are apparently lazy or incompetent or both, with the customer service staff stating that the can was not out - blatantly false, since we put our cans out at the curb the NIGHT BEFORE (after having the one missed trash pickup that was our bad). We even take special care to push the cans a couple of feet out from the curb, and there is nothing on either side of the cans in either direction. We are seriously considering using the free recycling bins at the landfill and taking the trash elsewhere. Avoid if you can, and if you can't, be warned. I'd give zero stars if that was an option.

Usually I try to resolve problems as they arise... but sometimes it doesn't work out. It certainly didn't work out with recent dealings with Yakima Waste Systems. I have been a customer since 1990. I changed to a larger container in 2004. Many times I have had problems of the driver emptying the container completely. Recently my container has been fuller than it had been and before and I felt I was getting to use what I was paying for. In April, I had an extra pick up charge. When I called and asked about it, I was told my container was too full so there was an extra charge. There were so many times it had been only partially used, so it shouldn't have been a problem. The person I talked about it said she would write a work order and give it to the driver. She said she would get back to me. That was early April and it is June 24th now and I still haven't heard from them yet. A few weeks ago, the driver only partially emptied the container. I called and asked if I could bill them for that and I asked about my previous complaint. She said the driver hadn't returned the work order yet. Then she wrote another work order to see if my statements were true. I had told her that he pulled several bags of garbage and left some. She asked me why he would do that? I replied I don't know but he had done it many times. Last week he dumped it completely. Today he didn't. So I called again. After sitting on hold for over 10 minutes, I talked to a nice young lady. Again she wrote a work order and I stated I must have a call back. So she said she would give the work order to the route supervisor and wrote on it that I needed s call back. We will see how that turns out. It is too bad that the office staff has to take all the complaints from customers when they have such an unfriendly customer service policy. 07-15-20 received a call from Debbie and the bin is supposed to be dumped weekly. Debbie is an asset to the company. She is kind, compassionate, and calming. Thanks Debbie!
Worse company I have ever dealt with.drivers lie constantly about weather and roads but they still charge for not picking up but once in an entire month they need to hire people that want to work not just collect a pay check
