We stayed at Sheer Elegance. Overall, it was a nice cabin. The hot tub looked well-maintained and cared for, but we chose not to use it. The cabin was dust free and bug free (for the most part, you're in the woods, what do you expect) Every time the upstairs toilet flushed, the downstairs toilet would splash toilet water up onto the seat and lid, making it wet every time you went to use it. The theatre seating was a little old and seemed very unstable and felt like it was going to break every time we sat in it. The downstairs shower (the glass block shower) had really bad water pressure. A lot of the holes in it were stopped up with calcium and lime buildup. It was also very open which allowed air into the shower while using it, which made it very cold and not very comfortable to use. On the positive side, it was very spacious and nice, other than those two points. We were provided with more than enough towels to last us the 5 days we stayed there. The manager (Scott I believe) was very helpful and accommodating. Overall, it was a fairly nice cabin for the price.

Our stay was November 2019 and the Lakota Sunset cabin is in need of updates and cleaning top to bottom. Hard bed in the upstairs and the whole cabin smelled musty. The deck was covered in leaves and the "hot tub" wouldn't get hot. Outside lighting needs improvement so people can find the place at night. Oven was dirty and so were the dishes. The pool table and sofa likewise are in need of new fabric. TV didn't work at first and we had to figure that out for ourselves. It does have some okay views. Would not stay again or recommend it.
We are at A Place To Remember. Wow. This is WAY nicer and bigger than I expected!!!! I dont understand the negative reviews. Getting the key code and making reservations was stress free. It's beautiful and clean and we are so excited! 2 things to know, however: 1. Said it sleeps 10...but that includes a pull out couch. 2. Very winding road to get to this place. I'll be posting a review and slide show on YouTube when our vacation is over.
We made reservations with aardvark cabin rentals nearly 6 months in advance and received a call less than 3 weeks from our check-in date stating that our cabin was no longer offered in their program. When I asked the receptionist what that meant she said she wasn’t exactly sure but usually when this happened either the owner decided to live there or cabin was sold or another group. We had not taken a vacation in several years, our young boys were excited and looking forward to this, and already taken time off work. We were told our deposit would be refunded to our card we used to make reservation in 48-72 hours, a week goes by and no refund received. Another phone call was made stating they were having trouble getting refund to go back on the card so then we were told when payroll was done within next few days a check would be mailed to us. Another week goes by still never received anything. After another phone call was made we are told that they had to turn it into their accountant and check was going out that day, now another week has gone by and still no refund check. I have never dealt with a business that is as unprofessional as this place. 4 weeks after we are told reservations are cancelled and still not having our money refunded to us has been such a nuisance. Customer satisfaction seems to be last priority with these people. Also find it suspicious that the night we were told cabin is no longer available I was looking at other cabins in hopes of still being able to go same dates I see the same cabin with exact same pictures on website vrbo for 400 more than what we had reserved it for. Would never recommend aardvark cabin rentals. Never would think reservations made 6 months in advance would be cancelled less than 3 weeks before your vacation.
We just got back from staying at Sheer Elegance and it was AWFUL!! Dust was everywhere, found a couple dead bugs, the dishes looked like had not been washed as the silverware to. Grandsons feet were black from the dirt on the floors. But nothing beat this.... my daughter had the downstairs bedroom and she kept hearing a noise outside the bedroom in the den area. Well we took the vent off ( where the filter hadn't been changed in years by the way) and out runs a little chipmunk!! Oh my goodness.... had to open the door and chase the little guy out. So talk about a terrible place to stay... I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. So before you waste your money on this cabin... BEWARE!
Away at last was not what my family and I was expecting for a weekend getaway. (1)critters are living in the walls and make horrible noise (2) water smells horribly we used bottled water for brushing our teeth bc we didnt want to chance the water (3) couch,chair & loveseat ripped & torn up (4)Electric wall outlet not in wall. (5) pool table pockets ripped making pool ball roll to the next floor from above game room. it almost landed on top of the glass coffee table. This is just a few things to try to help you save & not waste your money. We have been previous aardvark customers at other locations but I must say I'm every unhappy with this stay
