Came back three years ago after not being here since a teenager ( Now in my 50's). Loved it then, love it now! My husband is a fishing freak and he has as good a time as I do. Alan Holden Vacations have always been excellent to deal with. Very professional, clean houses, something for every budget. Highly recommend them! If you find a place you really like - better book ahead for next year - they will give you dibs until halfway through your week. And definitely get the travel insurance! Hurricanes happen. When we got here last year the beach had just reopened after one. Years ago I had reservations for my parents and my dad was in the hospital. They covered everything the literature said they would without any hassle. And compared to the price of a week's rent it is cheap! It is a quiet \family beach\ not a Myrtle Beach although Myrtle isn't a far drive. And the waves won't beat you to death like on the Outer Banks. Hope we can keep coming for many more happy years. Would move here if we could.

In September of 2020, I sent an email to Alan Holden vacations asking what a few days to a week at a certain property would be in July-august of 2021. I received a reply with no answer, just that I could book it online for 75. I plugged in the dates I was interested in on Holden-beach.com (July 17-24, 2021) to the property and it came out to 1,750 for that week. I made my plans and put down the 75 (80) to reserve the property. You can imagine my surprise when I received an invoice on january 12, 2021 that it will be 5,600 for the week and I needed to pay half within three days. I called and spoke with Gloria on the phone and she stated the owners set the prices and I asked who took the reservation money. She stated I would be refunded, that all I needed to do was email them stating the price went up too much. I did so just to get a short reply stating the deposit was not refundable. I called back and Gloria stated her supervisor said since the property only went up by 300 they would not be refunding. She did not apologize for telling the the opposite the day before. This company is not transparent about pricing. I’m out 80 and want to warn others. If there was any indication the property would be 5,600, I assure you I would not have been interested.
Alan Holden Vacations company called us four days before we were to leave for our beach trip to let us know that the pool would not be available. Keep in mind this is the only reason we booked this house because of the pool and location. The company was not hospitable they did not try to offer us another house due to the circumstances. Just our money back or 500 for the non use of the pool. That would have been fine if we weren’t four days out before we were suppose to arrive. I could have found another house on my own if I had time. Did I mention four days before our beach trip at 4:00pm right before closing we received this call? Gloria was both rude and hateful. I asked to speak to a supervisor and only received a busy signal. This is how they do business, wow! Please go with another company. So much for our much needed vacation. Very upset and disappointed. I wish I would have read the reviews before I booked a house with this company. I hope this helps future families looking for a nice vacation to pass up this company. Homeowners please don’t put your investments in the hands of this company.
Good experience overall. We had issues with home WiFi and the ice machine which their staff responded to quickly.
