As the previous reviewer said it's not much but just to know you're seeing the same view (less houses and stuff) people standing on that very spot saw thousands of years ago is something to behold. My understanding is this was a HoHokam observatory. I assume the 'glyphs are of the planets. I can't say 100% if they're authentic or not but it's sure nice to believe. While it isn't quite a preserved as Sears-Kay, you also don't have to drive way up past Cave Creek/Carefree either. This is a great stop off on your hike up the Shaw Butte trail. The short jaunt from the Central lot is a little steeper than I thought but do-able, especially in the cooler months.

It's easy to miss the site going up the trail. Before I headed toward the site, I looked for signs stating prohibited entrance. I didn't see any. I'm assuming the site is ok to visit. The archaeological remains are similar to other ancient sites found in the valley. The rock walls are clearly defined. It's not much. But I always awe at relics from the distant past. There's also petroglyphs up there. Just remember to not disturb the archaeological site. Doing damage to it is a crime.
