On January 5th, 2021 I ordered a pancake style kydex sheath for my Becker BK7. A great knife but very common. At the time, and on the invoice he claimed to be “around 14 business days” lead time from payment. Payment went out the 6th so 14 days would mean the sheath would ship around 27 Jan. That day comes around with zero contact so I check the website. Now the website says he’s 20 days out. Well, that shouldn’t mess with my shipping date since he’s already had the order AND MY MONEY for 3 weeks. 20 business days comes and goes with still not a single word from the vendor. I sent an email on Feb 6th asking for an update. Now he says he’s 4 weeks out….GREAT! You mean I got my sheath 3 days ago? “Yours is coming up soon” Most people would think you’d adjust your lead time to reflect high order volume AFTER you have filled your commitments from your agreed upon lead time of 14 business days. And if you put it on your invoice, you agreed to it. AZWelke is a FAIL Edit to add: "Around 14 days" then it was around 20 days, then 4-6 weeks. I agreed to "around 14 business days" and I waited over 4 weeks til I cancelled the order. If a sudden jump in sales caused a delay, an email blast to everyone who got delayed would be standard and very easy. SOME notice along the way would have made a world of difference.

Excellent Kydex! I’ve now had 4 different kydex sheaths made by the folks at AZWELKE and I’ve been impressed with each and every one. The sheaths are made with excellent materials, they look great and all 4 have fit my blades perfectly. These are functional sheaths that protect your knives and they all carried really comfortably. Al and DeAnn have made sheaths for my Ka-Bar Becker BK16, BK7 (with a BK14 piggyback), a BK10 and most recently my BK21. Putting a functional sheath on the Becker / Rienhardt Kukri feels like a real premium upgrade. We added a BK11 piggyback and ferro rod loop and the rig looks fantastic. I’ve never been impressed with the stock nylon sheaths that come with the Ka-Bar Becker line. I love the blades themselves so putting each into a high quality custom sheath like these means I’m far more likely to take them out on our families hiking or canoe trips. Add to that, their service has been excellent. They turned the sheaths around in short order and they were shipped quickly. They have always responded to my emails right away and provided solid advice on carry options when I wasn’t sure what would work best in my situation. That’s custom kydex for you. A great sheath and great service. I will absolutely continue using AZWelke future. Cheers!

Al’s kydex is up there with the best of them. I have many of his sheaths for Busse, Swamp Rat, SYKCO, and Carothers blades and have never been let down. Quality is outstanding. He’s my go-to for any taco kydex needs, although his pancake kydex is excellent as well. Retention is excellent and ideal. Knife won’t fall out, but pushing on the thumb ramp allows the blade to draw cleanly without excessive effort. Some other kydex makers (some who are very popular) will scratch up your expensive satin finish on your prized Busse, but that has never been an issue for me with Azwelke kydex. Al also offers many different colors of kydex including various camo and carbon fiber looks. He has alternatives to Tekloks and some good options for drop leg and danglers for larger blades. Shipping has been very quick in my experience. I realize this review nearly reads like an advertisement. That is simply because of how strongly I believe in his products. But don’t just take my word, search him on bl*d*f*r*ms and you’ll find many, many favorable reviews. Your search for a top quality kydex sheath for your blade ends here. Congratulations and you can thank me later.
