I didn’t realize that Boise has a huge Basque population! We walked around Basque Block on a beautiful sunny, winter day. Unfortunately, the pandemic has everything in the city on a ‘shut down’ type of atmosphere and not much was happening at all. I definitely would like to come back when the festivals are in full effect so we can experience this culture.

Unique cultural block celebrating a culture pivotal in establishing this area of the United States. Great food, some great memorabilia, and picturesque with lots of historical markers. The food alone makes visiting this area worth it. Basque food is a great food culture a lot of people don't know about. Highly recommend.

The Basque Block is one of Idaho’s unique cultural blocks of a living ethnic neighborhood- Basque. It is comprised of two boarding houses -\u00ad the Cyrus Jacobs-Uberruaga house, and the Anduiza. The block has its unique indoor frontón court, the Basque Center, the Basque Museum and Cultural Center, Bar Gernika, Leku Ona restaurant, and the Basque Market. The cultural food is one of the main attractions here. There is Basque History Mural completed by Noel Weber and The Letterheads in 2000, located on the Basque Block off of Capitol Blvd. One of the original Letterhead Members, Bill Hueg, hand painted a reproduction of the work which was translated into this new digital version displayed on the west-facing wall of the 104-year-old Anduiza Fronton building. The Museum Hours are Tuesday – Friday: 10am to 5pm and Saturday: 11am to 4pm. It is closed on Sunday, Monday, and Holidays. If you are in Boise or visiting Boise and you are a history geek, I would say definitely check out this place and also try the food here to taste a different ethnic food.

One of the last quiet places in Boise, will see how it goes with the Center and housing and all going up and all.
