We had the deep fried whole belly clams and lobster roll. Service was great and food was fresh. However lobster roll is just half the roll and for this time of the year, end of June, the clam's belly were a bit too small

One word is all that is needed: delicious. But, since I get more space to write, I'd like to compliment them on their prompt service, fresh food served quick out of the kitchen, and the food coma I am about to be in. I did not get to sample the whole menu, but I can safely say the clam chowder, the crab cakes, the lobster rolls, the scallop rolls (with scallops the size of your hand, I swear,) the fries (both regular and deliciously seasoned,) and the Boston Creme Pie were like being in Boston. I will definitely be coming back, and hope that any negative reviews from the first day or two of operation are viewed as skeptical, because reading just one bad review made me have to correct it...This place is GOOD. You won't be disappointed. (not pictured: clam chowder, because it was consumed too quickly to get a picture of)
Restaurant is casual yet pricey. However the service, food quality, freshness, and generous portions was worth it. Our server(Kim)was attentive and chatty (informative and interesting). She said restaurant has only been open for 7 months. Crab cake appetizer was 2 large cakes and reasonably priced for size. They were delicious but I would have preferred smaller cakes with more crab meat. My husband's Prime Rib was well done as requested. It was very tender and tasty with au jus. I wanted Fisherman's Catch but they would not make it without clams. I ordered fried Seafood Bake instead. It was crisp without too much breading. Scallops and Shrimp were cooked perfectly. Our food came with 2 sides each. The sides were good but portion could be small for big appetites. My husband ate all of his food plus my mashed potatoes. I could only eat half of my mine. Service was friendly. Food was served hot and fresh. Very enjoyable meal. My only criticism: The "all-you-can-eat" salad bar is just greens and other non-protein choices for 11 bucks.
Took my son here for his 15th b-day. He wanted lobster and I wasn't about to do Red Lobster again this year. I found Bates on Google and thought it would be worth a try. It really was great. Kim, our server, did a fabulous job of taking care of us. She was very attentive and kept us with a full glass of sweet tea. We want on a Sunday, which is free sundae Sunday! The food was fabulous and wasn't over priced (25 for two lobster tails and sides, that's not bad at all), staff was great (manager made sure to stop by the table) and the atmosphere felt like a friendly beach side diner. To sum it up, we had a great time with great food and service.
We enjoyed our time there and the food was good with big portions enough to take home for another meal. Sara M. was our waitress, she was friendly pleasant and fast. She was bartending at the same time. Expect to wait 20mins the food is made to order and with Sara as our waitress it didn't seem long. We can not wait for our next trip to Bates. Thank you Sara!!!

Awesome food, delicious, really good portions, several options on the menu, good services, friendly staff, the owner came to check on us, definitely I recommend this place, being there twice.
