Bright Minds is awesome! My son is dyslexic and has learned a lot seeing Joy twice a week. He actually gets excited to go to his tutoring sessions twice a week, even after being in school all day. I recently had to cancel due to changing schools, but will return to see Joy as soon as we can. They understand that you can't teach all kids the same, and are trained to teach children that aren't getting the instruction they need from public schools. This is priceless for a mom that wants to help her child read. It is so important to any struggling kid. Thank you Joy!!

I've always homeschooled my son but he's struggled with reading. I discovered that he had dyslexia. I decided to go with a tutor to help him establish a good foundation for his reading skills - that tutor is April at Bright Minds Tutoring. I can't even begin to explain what the tutoring has done for my son. He's been tutoring with Bright Minds for almost two years. In that time April has helped him in a way that I never could. She understands dyslexia and the way that they learn. She helps him decode and break down words so that he can learn them. She also walks through the rules with him. He likes to know the rules because it helps him with his reading. Those are what she teaches him, but the way she has helped him come into the confidence in his reading abilities is amazing. Not only that my son absolutely loves April because she is so kind hearted and she is interested in what he has to say. She is able to show interest and encourage him in what he wants to talk about and still keep him on task. I'm sure that isn't an easy thing to do. During COVID April has been a constant in his life and he enjoys chatting with her every week. He is always in a better mood when he gets off the tutoring call with her. April has an in depth knowledge of dyslexia and how you can help your child. She has had a few calls with me to help me figure out what he needs and how to do it. April has been a gift to us and has improved my son's reading, math skills, and has helped develop strategies for him to use in order to better succeed. Sadly, there are not a lot of choices for dyslexic students in Wilmington, so when we initially went to the one place everybody recommends, we were left feeling very disappointed. April started out coming to my son's school and tutoring him one on one, and then now he is taught part time (English, Writing and Math) at her office and then he goes to a private school for the rest of the day. The fact that she was willing to be so flexible, and cared so much about our needs, leaves me very grateful. You won't go wrong with choosing Bright Minds!
April and her team has been very supportive, flexible, and professional. Our child enjoys his tutoring with Mrs. Tony whom is very patient and caring. We will definitely continue to use Bright Minds Tutoring.
