I had the pleasure of meeting Matt in his Brooklyn workshop today to inquire about repairing cosmetic damage to the finish of my guitar. Though Matt is in the business of building and repairing guitars, he actually advised against fixing the damages to my guitar as it would hurt the instrument more than help. I appreciated his candid advice. I was also impressed by his keen eye for guitar construction. He immediately recognized that the wood peg tuners were replaced with Gilbert tuners, and that the finish was actually not French Polish but a more delicate finish. He also told me about the wood that was used for the top and sides of the instrument. I'm sure this expertise is also reflected in the quality of his craftsmanship.

I went to Matt as I needed a new bridge for my Rozas classical guitar. He set the action perfectly and customized the height on each string to ensure the best intonation. As far as material, he built it with high quality sheep bone instead of ox or cow bone. Guitar sounds and plays better than ever!

Excellent Luthier and Fantastic Guitar Repair Matt resurrected a vintage classical guitar for me. The guitar had a bent neck and loose braces. After his work, the guitar sounds great and has a sweet action. He's a genuine craftsman/artisan and offers fair prices. I had brought the guitar to two of other NYC luthiers prior to Matt; one did not want the job; the other quoted me a high price and did not instill confidence. Matt's my recommended luthier, especially for classical guitars.
