If there is an choice for zero stars, i would pick out it. This region sincerely disrespected us. My friends and that i stayed for an entire week and we cherished the town and the people. but, the personnel in this hostel did now not constitute this beautiful town of Chicago. at some stage in our time, we have been nothing but notable visitors to them. We even cleaned the room for them whilst we left. The personnel, however, did rate us a late price due to the fact we stayed about an hour after the check out. simply to let you know, we had an injured pal who needed help to arise and get equipped to leave. while we had been trying to speak to the personnel about why we had been overdue, they did not pay attention to us and referred to as our deeds, of help our injured friend and cleaning thier room, "disrespectful."

Sometimes when you hear or read the word “hostel”, you don’t book. The Chicago Gateway Hostel is the best that I ever been! Nice location (close to restaurants, pubs), close to downtown (you can use either Uber 15 or metro) Very good price! Paid parking but cheap for Chicago! Good for family (there is an option for private room and bathroom)! Clean and super friendly staff!

I was here when it was Arlington House, staying here on and off from 1990/1997, the reception was on the left, lounge right with a green Safe in it and a TV ,on the Right of the building was backpackers and travelers world, In Dorms 6/8 beds basics but cool,on the left side dorms , tourists did not often go up there. The manager asked me where I won’t to go? With the locals: I White Boy From London this was my gate and keys to the whole city ! In my dorm was the 4 Corner Street Hustlers Gang , Some had come from stateside Jail. Harrison Gents , there was a pool room up The and cheap liquor, these guys run this place, kitchen communal , down stairs , And I won’t forget the old folks on the ground floor to first , we go on the Roof Black white guys tourists wanting weed or what ever ,Thursday midday, Simon City Royals, Drop the weed to me , on the corner of Clark , Area is sound , it was 11/14 bucks a day , they never pushed for rent and you could get a monthly deal til you get your own crib, I Never Forget

This was a great establishment, everything was sanitized daily. Free coffee was a perk and the staff was super friendly. Make sure to keep the area clean as it is a communal area. Great value for the price!

Its price and breakfast are unbeatable! I LOVE its breakfast the most. You can have well-toasted toast or waffles, hot oatmeal, boiled eggs, milk with cereals, hot coffee, and fruits! The public space is comfy and spacious. The kitchen is professionally well-equipped. However, I dislike its "remote" shared restrooms.... You have to walk through doors to get there. The water from the sink faucets is quite slow. The shower rooms have no racks inside to put my stuff. But other than that, I like it, and I would definitely come back again for it's breakfast and its spaciousness. Oh, it takes a relaxing10-min walk from the subway station (Fullerton), and an 8-min walk to Target and all great diners & Starbucks!

If there's an option for zero stars, I would choose it. This place really disrespected us. My friends and I stayed for a whole week and we loved the city and the people. When we were trying to talk to the staff about why we were late, they did not listen to us and called our deeds, of help our injured friend and cleaning thier room, "disrespectful." We are never going to come back to this place ever again. It's a really shame that the last thing that happened to us in this gorgeous city is people calling us disrespectful.

It was ok. Make sure to check your rooms for cleanliness. Especially the fridge, I had old guacamole in mine. They gave me another room which was fine. It’s just so nasty to have even experienced that with children. You can cook your own food, we didn’t have a tv. Breakfast was from 7-9. Your basic continental. Staff was friendly. Parking 20. You can’t live in Chicago area. Your zip code can’t be 606 anything. Beds were somewhat uncomfortable but I’ll stay here again. Wouldn’t be my first choice tho.

The staff was super accommodating. The location was perfect. its about one to two miles from downtown but its no problem because you can either walk on Clark street which is full of shops, restaurants and bars to the downtown area or take a 20 min ride on the "L". The room was fine. Shared bathrooms were very clean. I left feeling very content and will most definitely return!
