The Solar Detectives were very professional on every level. It was a challenging day to perform the inspections as it was drizzling. However, we were under a time constraint from a contingency on a real estate contract and could not reschedule. Luckily the sun peeked through for enough time to get the drone in the air to register the thermal heat. What I appreciated the most was the time Bill took to explain details of what measures can be taken to ensure the life of the solar wiring, and the fire hazards. I appreciate the education of what to ask during a solar sales presentation. Bill shared so much more that I ever realized I needed to know and understand. His report was thorough. Would I recommend the Solar Detectives again? YES! Hands Down, I would recommend them.

I highly recommend the solar detective to double check the solar companies work after an install, during a home inspection when a buyer is purchasing a home or if you just like to see how well your solar is holding up over the years after installation. The solar detective is very knowledgeable on warranty lengths to help you maintain the system and utilize the solar company to make repairs at their expense and not yours.

It's really nice to have experts available that can look at the system and provide the buyer with piece of mind on such a large purchase. We purchased a condo with solar panels; however, the sellers didn’t leave us with any information about them. We didn’t even know which panels were ours. The solar detective completed an inspection (mainly detailed most clear cut problems) and gave us a report of their findings. They were up front about what they could and couldn’t do. They located the panels and the components and determined the manufacturer (gave us a manual) . They let us know the condition of panels and any repairs or maintenance needed. They showed us where the inverter & DC connect panels are and the panel inside our home. We found Solar Detectives to be friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They answered our questions and explained how the system works. We now feel confident about the functioning, what we need to do to bring the system to code and what we can expect when the panels are well maintained.
Bill did a great inspection on the home my buyer was interested in. And when the seller needed an envoy programmed and we couldn't wait the extra week for the repair company to make it out, Bill went above and beyond to help us. Without Bill, I don't think we would have closed escrow on time. If you want someone that cares about their clients Bill is your guy!!
Hired Solar Detective during contingency period of a home purchase to compliment the traditional home inspector we hired. Many homes for sale now have photovoltaic panels, but traditional home inspectors do not inspect or have competency in photovoltaic equipment. Given the cost of these systems, it was important for us to find out the condition of the solar panels, inverters and monitoring system. Bill and his team performed a very through top to bottom inspection and functional assessment of the system on the home we eventually purchased. Post home purchase (June 2020) we tapped into Bill's extensive knowledge of the solar industry, the equipment and installers to help us identify quality solar installers for the additional solar panels and new home batteries we wanted to install. Fast forward to Sept 2020 and we now have full city approval of the solar panels and home batteries and the vendor we choose with Solar Detective's help is continuing to administer the process for us to obtain our SGIP rebates. Solar Detective armed us with the knowledge to have solar issues corrected before we purchased our new home and assisted us in finding a high quality installer to expand our electrical self sufficiency capabilities. Highly recommend Bill and Solar Detective to provide in-depth home solar advisory expertise.
