I went to Dr. Balsama last year for a consult on revision surgery. About 10 years ago I had vertical sleeve with another surgeon. I did well and maintained for about 8 of the 10 years however I went through some severe trauma and depression (no excuse I know) and gained most of the weight back. Well, Dr. Balsama came in to see me with his intern, no big deal. I explained the situation. I also have severe GERD from the sleeve so I gravitate towards bland foods and starches. Dr. Balsama basically said point blank, “ I have never seen anyone gain every pound back and you do know that revision will not result in weight loss?”. I work as a drug and alcohol counselor. I have been diagnosed with binge eating disorder. I am in therapy. I have never spoken to or shamed any of my patients or clients the way that I was treated by Dr. Balsama. I walked our of that office in tears. His office assistant was wonderful but he as a doctor....never again. Thanks for shaming me. I did not expect positive reinforcement or sympathy at all but I also did NOT deserve to be spoken to like that.

Thank you Dr.Louis Basama ,Kathy, Chris & your whole team for saving my life. You all have made this experience great. Not only did you do the Gastric sleeve but you repaired my 10 cm diaphramic hernia and removed a lipoma from my heart that was causing me to go into left heart failure by pushing my heart to the left. Not only did you give me my life back with confidence you also removed all of the restrictions and fears that have been preventing me from truly living my life to the fullest. I am so blessed to have found you and have my treatment plan nothing left but successful going forward. THAN YOU ALL!!
