Elder is one of a kind. The owners are warm, wise, kind-hearted, and helpful. I’ve also tried every single tonic & they are all DELICIOUS. Most of all, this space has a homey, warm feel and it feels nourishing to be in there. Yes, it’s an apothecary *and* it’s also an experience of love, healing, care, and community. That is felt as soon as you walk through the doors.

As a man who was unfamiliar with herbal medicines the help I received from the cheerful staff at Elder Apothecary was a blessing. They helped me understand how and why integrating herbal medicines into my life is beneficial. I ended up just buying an amazing bar of lavender soap and a bees wax candle as a house warming gift. However, I was so intrigued by my experience I'm going to return and indulge myself more into all they have to offer. And to get a tasty beverage at the potion bar, they even have espresso. This place is magical. The ladies are very nice and full of knowledge. I could easily spend some time, drinking their herbal tea and learning about all the medicinal properties and herbs they have in shop.

I stopped into this place for the first time around the new year, and was immediately enchanted. A family trio of women run the place and they are all so kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. The products they carry are diverse, high quality, and beautifully presented. The space is absolutely gorgeous - expansive, but still somehow cozy, warm, and welcoming. Their tonic bar, which includes unique and nourishing herbal beverages, drew me in, but I found myself wandering the whole store and taking it all in. I will definitely return - this a new favorite spot for sure!!

Unfortunately our experience seems to be the outlier. While the shop itself is beautiful & well-stocked, we were completely ignored by the staff other than an uncomfortable side-eye that made us feel unwelcome enough to leave. Maybe it was just an off day for them, but it was definitely a bummer for us.

This is my favorite spot in Ashland! They carry some amazing products and have a great selection of dried herbs. Don’t even get me started on the tonic bar — the drinks are what I always wished I could find at a cafe. The founder/owner Willow is a clinical herbalist and you can tell how much heart and soul she’s put into this. Go visit!!
