My life and kitchen would be so much duller without Fooks! The vegetables and tofu and kimchi are fresh and not from a million miles away. I can buy ALL the ingredients I need for multiple varieties of Eastern culture and the Indian subcontinent. Products not laveled in English have translations and shelf tags which help folks like me.

I have been shopping at Fook’s Foods for 10 years, starting back when they were off Baxter Street. I was so glad when they moved to this Milledge Avenue spot. It’s a bigger location and there is plenty of parking. Karen, the owner, is very helpful and also very blunt. I’ve appreciated that through the years. She’s very honest about her opinions and her recommendations. I go shopping there probably two or three times a month. A few of the things I always buy are 25 lb bags of rice, rice paper, oyster sauce, dumplings, wontons, yu choi, and Asian candies. During this time of Covid, I’ve been so glad they have stayed open. I have never seen anyone without a mask in the store. Few people would probably want to make Karen chastise them though. Hah! There is a barrier between the cashier and customer, as well as marked spots on the floor for waiting. They’ve done a great job keeping everyone safe.

The best place to shop for Oriental foods and fresh Kimchi and veggies. You can find all sorts of spices and items you can't find anywhere else. Also great staff, helpful and friendly. Make sure you where a mask though, or you will be asked to leave.
