Dont waste your time, the owner is mean, wouldnt listen to a word i said on the phone, booked the wrong dates and wouldnt send me my money back, so now im stranded in miami w no place to stay before my flight and no money to rebook the room!! I even tried rebooking it through them and they hung up on me!! HORRIBLE customer experience. Ruined my trip completely
I'm going to share all the details and experience, so that you can have a fair judgement on whether this place is for you or not. First, a huge advantage is that it is close to the airport, and there is a free shuttle every hour - I had no issues with the shuttle, it was very predictable. From Miami Airport, there is cheap public transportation to Downtown, Miami Beach and Fort Lauderdale Airport, so if you're on a budget and don't want to rent a car or rely on Uber, it's definitely a good opportunity. The gym is very well-equipped, and the backyard is really nice, and the hosts were helpful. On the negative side: in our apartment, there were 4 bunk beds altogether, meaning that you might have to share the place with 7 other people. Plus, two of the beds are located right at the entrance and next to the kitchen, and guests may come and go anytime - so if privacy is of any importance to you, you might want to reconsider. Also, because the guests change so quickly, the place is not really cleaned. There's hair all over the bathroom and even the sheets (and not only head hair, if you know what I mean), and the blankets smell kind of odd. There's little storage space, if you sleep in the bottom part of the bed, it's too short to sit up (unless you have dwarfism), plus the tap in the bathroom was broken and constantly dripping. Also, the wi-fi is basically nonexistent (and it would have been very important to me as a foreigner with no data). Most people who go to Don Omar do it because they have an overnight layover, so they spend only a night there. I spent there two nights - and it was survivable, given that I was a solo traveler with no car on a budget - but I was trying to stay there as little as possible.
Very friendly family that owns and runs the place. There is a nice pool, gym, and outdoor space.
Unclear instruction - gave me instruction when I was already inflight couldn’t check my mail till I land obviously. Then I got given a number to call to check in over the phone- because they don’t have a reception - then when I finally manage to reach this number after 1 hrs ! The guy gave me another number to call. It was all a little dodgy. The shuttle wouldn’t pick you up where the other hotels shuttle pick u up. I ended booking another place because I didn’t trust them.
DO NOT stay here, again, do yourself a favor & DO NOT stay here. The location was handy but the only reason I booked was because it has an airport shuttle and they did send instructions but they were wrong so I called the owner to double check and confirm if where I was - was the correct location & he said yes so I stayed and waited & no shuttle so I called again and I again told him where I was and THEN he says I was in the wrong section. The message said 2nd floor and I was on the 2nd floor but the instructions were wrong & again that’s why I called. Very frustrating as I had a long delayed flight that day from London. There was pubic hair on the floor, it had a weird smell, the sheets didn’t seem clean. I had no sheet to cover me only a blanket to cover me that seem are not washed daily so I wanted a sheet but there were none. My sheet had stains. The worst part was that the shower was missing a handle & could not take a shower. And I needed one badly. They told me to just use the other handle but I told them I had tried but that the water was BURNING so I couldn’t as it was boiling. Then the lady & daughter of the owner suggested I took a shower in the swimming pool as they laughed out loud which was not funny. That was not nice. Then I was trying to help so I asked for some plyers so I could turn the medal piece but they told me to do it with my hand which makes me Hercules automatically to be able to do that which is impossible. So sad to say I’m stinky since London and I’m in Mexico now...they shouldn’t be in business. I asked if I could shower somewhere else and the lady said there was the men’s dorm but to keep my flip flops on as the tub was so dirty. I was already in bed sleeping when she said that and if there was pubic hair in my dorm I can’t imagine how dirty the other shower was as I was told to keep my shoes on while showering. This was overall a nightmare & I should get a refund for the stay and for the UBER I had to get

Don’t stay here. Directions to enter facility are to call the owner for check in. I waited for over 1 hour, called and texted both numbers several times with no response. Had to find another place to stay. Dangerous and unreliable to leave a person waiting like that for a check in. Shouldn’t be running a business.
