Unitarian Universalists are not Uniform. :] I've attended UU congregations in various cities and states, and sometimes the average attendee is agnostic, if not flirting with atheism... Nothing wrong with that! (Makes me, though, a lifelong mystic with experiences beginning in childhood *not* a good fit.) This group is great! Talk of spirituality is commonplace, and no tells you what that spirituality needs to entail. If you are looking for intelligent, social-minded folks who will also allow you to be spiritual in the way is specifically true for you, you may find meaning, plus friendships, and great classes - at Oly UU. NOTE:. If you tried OUUC out last year or the year before, try it again. (I did that, and as the group was in a period of high transition, it did not have the feeling that it does now.)

I have been pagan since I was 12, my husband is a secular humanist, and we are raising our kids with a knowledge of religions but not pushing them in any certain direction. OUUC is a very warm, welcoming community. The first visit I got a but of unpleasant flashback to the Christian churches I attended as a child, just because it is structured like a church. BUT, the sermons are only come from love, no fire and brimstone, no pushing one god or spiritual mentor above any others. If you are on the fence about attending, I highly encourage you to visit. Or visit OUUC's website, where you can listen to past sermons. It's a great place to make your spiritual home.

I'm a member, it's a good community. Not dogmatic at all.

I'm not religious, but we attend this church because they have an excellent religious education program for children. The RE program covers Abrahamic faiths (Judaism, Christianity, Islam), Eastern/Asian religions (Buddhism, Hinduism, etc) and earth-based religions. I think one of the best ways to make the rest of the world seem less scary is to know more about it, so I love this education program. On top of that, this congregation, like most UU congregations, welcomes people of all colors, orientations and faiths, and makes social justice a priority. I especially like how they split the offering plate with local charities, in addition to other work. Great place! I would give it four and a half stars, if I could, because while it embraces diversity, it needs more outreach to get members who aren't quite so pale-skinned; and because the average age of members puts my family, with a young child, in the decided minority. But I think they are doing their best to find younger, more diverse members, and wonderfully friendly.
